Top 5 albums 2005

Jan 31, 2006 Author: admin | Filed under: Blog, Music

In terms of music I think 2005 has been a pretty good year, many new bands, the MTV Music Awards came to Portugal (hmm, the Gift should have played at least one song there, how shamefull of the organization…) and iTunes has been selling buckloads of musics.
So without further delay, let me tell you about the top 5 albums I most enjoyed this year: (more…)

Old school game endings

Remember those days when games were a bunch of pixels? when Sega and Nintendo ruled the games industry and you were happily playing Super Mario or Sonic?
well, if you don’t then you can visit this site and take a look at some game endings from that era, for me it brings back some good memories of a time when games were less comercial and more about gameplay.
Anyway, go to Game revolution and take a look.

Nintendo DS Lite

Nintendo redesigned the Nintendo DS giving it a more sleek and shinny look.

The Nintendo DS Lite will be smaller and lighter than it’s predecessor and maybe it will have some new improvements, for now you can stare at the (few) mock-up images at EuroGamer .

I’m really anxious to see the new DS in full colour and I hope it arrives in Europe around March, the ‘old’ DS is an impecable gaming machine despite the initial contrary feelings of the general public and it’s selling well, just take a look at this article by GamesIndustry .

Here in Europe, where 3.5 million units of the console have been sold, Mario Kart DS has sold 800,000 copies since it was launched in November.

busy

So what am I working now?
Well lately i’ve been very busy, my current project is a web application which is powered by Java, struts, lots of javascript and last but not least, Hibernate.

I’ve enjoyed working with Hibernate in the last months, I think it’s very powerfull and you really simplify the time you take to make queries, of course it helps to have a uml model nearby.
If you want to know more about Hibernate and object persistance I suggest you visit Hibernate.org, there’s even a work in progress version for .NET, how cool is that?

On another note, I finished up the general look of the site, now all I need is:

  • A better homepage
  • Add more images to portfolio
  • Upload curriculum in Portuguese/English
  • Upload wallpapers and other personall creations
  • Integrate with feedburner
  • Integrate with Technocrati

Apple releases new Macs

Jan 12, 2006 Author: admin | Filed under: Apple, Blog

Have you seen them? of course you do!
Apple showed at MacWorld Expo the new intel-processor based Macs which garantee speed improvements up to 4x. The design is pretty much the same, the new laptop dubbed MacBook has frontrow, built-in webcam and iLife 06. The desktop computer iMac has mantained it’s visuals and the speed increase is a good improvement.
It’s a pity no upgrades were shown for the Mac Mini, I was hoping to see some news on the matter but oh well, guess I’ll have to settle with MacBook for now.
Go and visit the Apple Store for more info and pictures.
