Happy birthday Think Orange!
It’s been a year since me and Rui founded a company from sketches on napkins to something real and it’s incredible how time flies by.
The year has been both easy and hard, there was plenty of challenges and new situations which I didn’t even dreamed of but at the same time it’s been alot of fun and enjoyable.

Leadership in the 21st Century
EWMD (European Women’s Management Development International Network) held a conference last friday in Portugal about Leadership in the 21st Century and addressed many interesting topics like social entrepeneurs, corporate responsibility and the role of women in leadership. The conference also presented the EWMD Female Leadership award.
Great event, so let’s see more.
Unboxing Samsung i7500 Galaxy
So I finally managed to get my hands on the newly released (here in Portugal anyway) Samsung i7500 Galaxy from TMN and capture some shots from the unboxing.
The phone is the first Samsung carrying the Android operating system (Android OS v1.5 without customizations) and has a nice3.2″ capacitive AMOLED touchscreen (but no multi-touch gestures), Wifi, 3.5mm headphone jack, 8GB of onboard storage, Accelerometer and lot’s of other fancy characteristics. All this on only 116g of weight.
Upcoming project: Roadie
In the last weeks, we’ve been working on a little experiment at Think Orange. We love music and we’re pretty busy fellows, so we wanted a solution to keep us informed on new album releases from our favorite bands.
Thus with a little time on our hands and the help of Bruno Afonso with his incredible design skills, we created Roadie.

Roadie is a free service where you pick the artists or band that interest you and we’ll generate a customized RSS Feed or iCal with their recently released or brand new albuns which you can subscribe.
That way, you’ll always know when a new album is coming.
We’re putting the finishing touches and gathering feedback from friends and testers. It should be out very soon.
My delicious tags
So these are the topics I’ve been keeping in my delicious bookmarks all this time…
Codebits is back
Hacking marathon will return to Lisbon on 3,4 and 5th of December with another edition of Sapo Codebits. The Yahoo! Hackday inspired event promisses more great talks this year and better conditions.
I’ve already received my confirmation and hoping forward to have fun on these 3 days.
Açores
Last week I went on a trip to the Azores (island of São Miguel) for a little vacation time. The island is beautiful and truly unique.
There’s no amount of pictures and videos that could capture the fantastic scenery and peace of quiet you get from visiting this wonderful place.
Anyway, here’s some photos I posted on Flickr, but I recommend you go there for at least 4 days.
Web 2.0 at EBSCO Open Day
Last week I attended the EBSCO Open day 2009, an event about libraries, tecnology and information by EBSCO.
I had the opportunity to speak about the advances in web technology, what challenges libraries face with so many concorrent players and how libraries can enrich the information they already have and provide a better service to their users.
The presentation is available on Slideshare in portuguese, I’m working on a translation which should be online soon.
